There is no exact formula for making putty, every resin and combination of products will make for a different mix, plus you may want to fine tune the mix for certain applications. Using shredded CSM makes for rather hard to use product because of the long strands of glass, cutting them up shorter makes it easier to use. When you purchase glass fibers (milled fibers) for adding to putty they are very short, they look almost like powder, even these make for a lumpy putty if too much is used.
Cabosil will make a very creamy, smooth, sag resistant putty, microballoons make it lighter and easier to sand, but do little to help with sagging. Adding fibers makes it stronger, but can create a lumpy hard to level putty if too much is added or the fibers are too long.
