what is the best way to re-install a 94 cobra 5.0 onto the motor mounts? I am having difficulty getting the engine all the way back on the rear motor mounts so I am wondering if I am putting it back wrong.
Thanks.

Re: Motor Install

All you do is drop it straight down , check the engine/coupler alignment, install outdrive.

yep, it's gotta go straight back down.

on both the boats i've pulled engines on the engine had to be moved fwd to clear the cap on the boat to be pulled. ya can either move the engine fore and aft or move the boat if the engine hoist is stationary.
if it came out it'll go back in....

both times i've pulled my engine i've used an engine leveler to help tilt the engine up or down as necessary to get it to clear and go back into place. http://www.google.com/products?q=en...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CDUQrQQwAA

okay. When you removed the engine did you remove the front motor mount nuts or the two lag bolts?

You remove the lag bolts holding the front mounts to the stringers. Should be 2 lag bolts on each front mount.

You do have the outdrive off don't you???????

Don,

Thanks for the heads up. I know now what I did wrong. I didn't remove the lag bolts, I removed the mounting nut on the front mounts instead. Thanks for your help and now I will be able to put it back. Should the exhaust hoses be removed too?

And yes, because of your great tips, I removed the outdrive before i removed the engine. When I put it back I know I will need an alignment tool Can I make one of these or is it something I should buy?

thanks again.

Thanks Don. I am thinking that buying looks like a good idea now.

Are the dimensions in the drawing in inches (and millimeters mm inside the parenthesis)?
