i usually pump the primor until stiff on the fuel line then push the key in for the choke to come on and i will pump the gas one or two times and try to start it

wrong. pump the fuel line bulb till hard, now move throttle lever to 1/2 throttle, turn key to ON, now push in on key for a 3 count, holding key in, turn to start, after a 5 count let key out. it should start in just a second, if not already. pull throttle lever back. you may have to push the key once or twice to keep it running, until the motor settles.

pumping the handle does nothing, the motor does not have an accelerator pump,

Bong.... Incorrect starting procedure.

1- Pump bulb until firm
2- Press key for 3-4 seconds - allows primer to prime motor
4-Advance throttle to under 50%
3- turn key - should fire. (a bit of throttle may be needed to keep it running or press key again a few times to keep her running.

(Beat me two minutes TS)
