bought another boat, so my 16ft 75 hp suzuki has sat all summer and last fall also. went out today and it won't go over 3000 rpm.it ran fine when i stored it. I switched fuel pump no differance. primer bulb seemed to get a little soft but 2-3 squeezes it firmed up. what kind of fuel pressure am i looking for at carb line? I think its a carb issue.starts right up idles as well as a 3 cylinder will.but when i try to open it up it falls on its face. as i ran it longer at 1300m rpm it seemed ok, i did try to open it up after about 2 hours almost came up on plane. I think I got crap in my carbs. I didn't have any way to enrich it. Ideas/

sat up for a year..I think a carb rebuild/cleaning is what you need, make sure to do it right.

If it is running lean you will pop a piston if you keep running it.
Clean the carbs

Usually fuel systems are the culprit after extended lay up. I think your on the correct path. I would check simple things first, fresh clean fuel, tank vents, fuel lines maybe run boat with fuel system cleaner/ h20 absorber like startron or similar.

cleaned carbs, that fixed the problem.top carb alot of sediment 1/4 tsp, middle carb had some gel? bottom was fairly clean.

you have to love ethanol in the fuel. it breaks down in less than 3 months. your best bet for storage is pure fuel for 6-9 months of storage, or completely draining the fuel system for long term storage.

use sea foam or stabil marine for over 3 weeks storage..double dose it if it will be longer than 3 months. triple dose it if it will be all year. carbs are much more forgiving than injectors.

This title sounds like what I imagine every marine mechanic in the world hears everyday in the spring!:D

yea all my two strokes have this problem. every new season, I'm cleaning weedwacker, tiller, lawn mover, carbs. and I use stabil. So I need more for storage? or stabil and seafoam

triple dose for long term storage up to a year. sea foam is great, stabil marine ethanol is good also.
