Guys, I think this is what I'm going to do.

There's always the "good enough" rule....and is it? Absolutely, as long as it suits your purpose!

IF it did come loose in an emergency situation, I could always make a run for the shore, and I'm a hell of swimmer, anyway.

With either 4200 or 5200 it won't come loose. No swimming needed.

for a spare pump I carry, so that it is portable, I glued a heavy metal disc to the bottom of the pump to hold it down; I can drop it in anywhere. But it's not as stable as a primary pump.

My 2000 GPH back up pump is 4200'd to an actual rock. A piece of patio flag stone. I have about 10' of 1 1/8" hose attached to the pump, and jumpercable-type battery clips attached to the wires.

Plus it didn't work when I got her . . . epoxied down another one :eek:
