I have an Eagle Fisheasy ST. I know they state you can mount it inside the boat. Now is that only fiberglass? I have an aluminum boat and was wondering if I can mount it inside the boat.

No. On a aluminum boat can not shoot thru hull. Many fiberglass boats works ok. Many boats like bass boats have a special area to mount inside.

I have successfully mounted a through hull transducer on an aluminum boat (dive-charter boat). The transducer must be submergered in water and not touching the metal. there must be no air between the bottom of whatever is holding the water that holds the transducer and the hull of the boat. In other words, it is not easy - you'd likely have to have a spot designed to take the transducer or have water in the hull. If you create a barrier so to speak and will it with water and place the transducer inside, it will work.

I've been told that you can't shoot thru aluminum but it sound's like MajBach has the solution. A friend did this on his glass boat and it might work for you: Get a 4" scrap of PVC tube and shape one end to match the hull. Mount the tube to the hull with silicone sealant. Mount the xducer in the tube and fit a cap. Fill the tube with water, antifreeze or mineral spirits.

the one factor not mentioned is that with the inside mounting you lose some sensativity.

since i went with the inside mount, it takes more power to shoot thru and the reception is dulled.

next season i'll have a new external transom mount.
