So we spend years and millions making the case against ol' Zach; and he's found guilty in the trial phase. Now, in the penalty phase, he states he truly is guilty to the extent that he was to fly a plane targeting the White House on 9/11 .

Now, our government lawyers, his prosecutors/accusers, doubt his statement and are working to poke holes in it!

What a country....

The goal of the justice system, however idealistic it may sound, is to get to the truth, whatever that truth is.

The goal of the justice system is not solely to administer punishment.

The best punishment for these scumbags would be life in prison NO parole, ( no quick trip to them virgins), Pork for every meal, and a cell filled with a couple hundred footballs so they cant get away without touching pig skin. And outdoor recreation to be held in a pig stye.

No, he confessed.

Keep in mind what is going on with Moosy-owie; the gov’t wants to execute him for what he knew, not for what he did. Technically, the gov’t wants to execute him for what he DIDN’T do. He was in custody when 9/11 happened, had nothing to do with it. The gov’t claims Moosy-owie knew about the plot because he was supposedly part of it, and since he didn’t say anything, 9/11 happened. Had Moosy-owie said something, the gov’t claims it could have prevented the events of 9/11.

I disagree. The gov’t had details about the 9/11 plot since 1995 when it was discovered in a briefcase of a captured Islamic terrorist in the Philippians. The Justice department constantly turned down every request to act on that data.

If Moosy-owie was a part of the 9/11 plot as the gov’t claims, then he had a 5th Amend right to NOT say anything while in custody. But that doesn’t matter. What matters is that the gov’t keep the name Moosy-owie up in the air and in the headlines and associated with 9/11, then when Moosy-owie is executed somehow all of the family members of the victims of 9/11 are supposed to suddenly experience simultaneous closure...or something like that.

Personally, I don’t care what they do to/with Moosy-owie. He’s not a nice guy. But I’m not going to play stupid about it, either. Doing him isn’t going to make 9/11 go away, isn’t going to make those people in positions of protecting this country any less culpable for their f**k ups that allowed all of this to happen, and it isn’t going to make all of those really good question about what really happened in and at the twin towers that day go away.

You’re kidding, right?!? If you had posted this on April 1st we could all have had a good laugh with it.

I agree with 18R (on Moussaoui) and I hope he is not executed by the state. I would like to squeeze the life out of him myself while I watched his eyeballs pop, but I don't want the death penalty in this case. It is not right, and it will be a rallying cry for anti-death penalty zealots.

Also, isn't he protected against self incrimination?

Frankly, I think that the worst thing we could do is execute him into martyrdom....
A life sentence at hard labor at Leavenworth would be much more effective......
In general population of course ;) .....JK
