Re: moving to florida

Lot of people leaving MI, what type of job is it ?
Good luck landing it, I love the 4 seasons of the good ole' midwest there are drawbacks here tho as well.

It is a maintenance supervisor position at a newer apartment complex, and comes with a free apartment.
I interviewed for a position with this company about 6 or 7 years ago in Lansing Michigan, but based on my experience they thought I would get bored at that particular property so they offered me a position at one of their properties on Long Island NY.
I accepted and quit my current job and started packing, which is when my wife informed me she wasn't going and if I left she would file for divorce.
Women!!
Can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

Florida Exodus: Rising Taxes Drive Out Residents

This wouldn't affect me as I would get free housing as part of my employment.
Besides Florida's economy will probably never get as bad as Michigan is right now, and Michigan will be the last state to recover.
I will keep my house in Michigan for summer vacations but we need to get out ASAP.
Everyone talks about how bad the economy is but "you ain't seen nothin' yet"
I'm no expert but I would say Michigan is on the verge of a depression if we aren't already in one.

Re: moving to florida

We all know you applied for the job so you can boat all year round. You don't need to even say it. haha

Actually the fact that I could boat year round is a plus, but not the driving force behind the move.
I have vacationed in Florida many times as a kid, but haven't been there for years.
Last winter my wife went down there for the first time with her sisters (Daytona) for a week.
She has been talking about relocating to Florida ever since.
Of coarse who am I to argue about boating year round haha
She actually is the one that told me about the job opening.
I guess when you've been married for 23 years you tend to think alike.

Re: moving to florida

I came down here from Cleveland, Ohio area 6 years ago. You will love it down here. Most of my boating is on the Suwanee and Santa Fe rivers. Do a lot of fishing in the Gulf at Cedar Key, Keaton Beach, Steinhatchee. All in a 16' Sundance Skiff. Yeah, I want a bigger boat.

But this thing is really economical with a 25 hp Mercury 4 stroke. Not sure what to get next, wife wants a pontoon.
