Well be like me Link....and just buy one.
They are as cheap as in your country, especially the older X Models, and most come 'well loaded' with extras.
I found that America site of yours for pricing, NADA or something, pretty accurate in their pricing.

has them for US$19,900, brand spanking new, drive away, or should I say sail away. Granted you have many other options and motor you can add which puts a few more bucks on top, but you sure get one hull of a lot of bang-for-your-bucks.
I luv living in Australia, and will never move from my part of paradise, but having said that, you blokes up there has some fantastic 'toys' available to you at brilliant prices.
When I die and go to heaven, I hope it is full of all those toys......forget the sheilas......just let me at those toys....
Go for it mate: you'r going to be dead for a long time.
Cheers

Just watched the video Phillip. Probably the longest video I've ever watched on the 'puter. I must say that you really did your homework on this one. From the boats features, capabilities and quality, it is extremely impressive. I can't believe the price. Seems like it should be double and it is not even made in Asia.

Can't wait to hear your experience and see some pictures.

It was also good to see so much footage from my home stomping ground. Los Angeles Harbor, Newport Beach, Santa Catalina Island. Oh it makes me homesick.

Very cool boats.

Is there a walleye fishing version?
There is a 19' version for sale near me, maybe I can convert her.

And what would happen if I bolted a 175 onto it? 8)

Rosecoe
MacGregor recommend the 50hp, and a lot put the 4 stoke on, but it is not uncommon to to 75hp 2 strokes.
One chap had a 115ph 2 stroke, but I believe he did modifications to boat structure.
Another chap from LA I communicate with went from a Suzuki 50hp 4 stroke to a 75hp Evinrude E-tech - reckons it leaps out of the water, and is better than a 4stroke in all areas. Personally I think the Johnson E-tech is so far out in front of other brands......
Boomyal:
Yes, a great video. Roger MacGregor that you see in the video is one smart chap, when you think about what he has achieved in so many areas of design. Just basic stuff. I think he is up to about 37,000 boats made so far.
It that 19' is cheap, then why not, but research the prices well thru your NADA site.
Ladyfish.
Well what can a bloke say.... so appropriate.
It is coming with the name Blue Moon which I may well keep. Family have suggested "Grumpy Bear".
Cheers

Phillip, why wouldn't/couldn't US dealers sell the new M model to you? Was it due to conflict with Australian Mac dealerships?

Re: My 40' Container has arrived from the USA

The MacGregor business is split in to what seems 2 arms.
MacGregor deal with all sales to American Dealerships.
Sharp Industries (think thats correct name) is owned by Roger MacGregors daughter, and she handles sales to all overseas Dealerships.
American Dealerships seem cautious to sell direct to overseas customers such as me, as they don't wish to risk loosing their Dealership.
To buy thru the Aust Dealership 2-3yrs back was a lot more expensive than buying in US and shipping out.
Buying 2nd hand in Australia for mine is approx Aud$50K.
Although I don't have the final figure for this one I have bought, I don't think it will go much over Aud$30K, BUT the American 2nd Hand ones seem to be fully loaded with extras, probably as US owners can buy these extras at very reasonable prices. Mine has a very long list of extras.
Been held up this end. Quarantine said it had to be gassed with methy brominde. That was done. They then need it to be washed, and then a final inspection. At the same time Quarantine did their 3mth inspection of the wash-point and found the water was not at the required ph of 12, and the wash-point operators have had difficulty getting the ph up, so it has put me back by a week.
These are the sort of little hick-ups you get, and am sure there will be a few more to come.
Cheers
Phillip

Hey there is a ritual you must perform before re-naming a boat.
It is a cute read and if no-one else finds it first I’ll look it up tomorrow night

Looks like most of here on iboats are having as much fun with your new boat as you are! :)
As it should be..

That is one sweet boat Kiwi Phil!
I have always loved those sailboats. I believe that will be the next boat I purchase.
Have you gone out in it yet?
Keep us updated on how she handles and how she sails.
It's like a new addition to the family. Congrats!
B.C.
