The fishing trip was a success. Although not on the Chief was out on my buddies Islander so all is good. Was a beautiful day to be on the water. Didn't set the water on fire but did manage to get 1 king salmon, 1 coho salmon, 1 brown trout, and 1 atlantic salmon.

A couple pics.

Thanks guys, the water was showing her beauty and giving us a few fish to boot. The trip was a big incentive to get the Chief done and out there catching fish.

Re: My Chieftan project

Hey B2, blue and white are great colors but trust me.....I have no desire to do any painting right now.

Well been a long week and not a whole lot of progress done but did manage to get the outdrive installed yesterday. Still need to install the trim cylinders but my back said not now. So instead of relaxing with a couple beverages I had to settle for some real medicine.

So anyways A couple weeks ago I ordered new trailer tires from Wally World. Ship to store, free shipping, blah blah blah. The day after I ordered them they sent an email stating they were shipped and thus charged my cc. A few days go by and I check the Fedex tracking which showed no such shipment. After a week and a half still no shipping status. So I send an email to Wally World inquiring about my order and why the shipper shows no shipment. Yea they send me a generic email with the same crap on their site so I call the 800 number and impatiently wait on permanent hold for a real person. When they finally answer I explain my dilemma and the woman says well it was shipped. Ok, how was it shipped when there is no such item listed by the shipper. Well we don't track USPS. Maam, the email says it was shipped via Fedex. Well we don't have that information available but will submit an inquiry and inform you that it has indeed been shipped. Please wait till the 21st before you contact us again. Ok, so on the afternoon of the 21st I call the store to see if they arrived and was told there was no items for me but her info showed shipped. She suggested I call Wally World again......oh boy. So when I finally get a hold of them the gal agrees my tires were probably not shipped.....really. She says she will submit it as a lost order and reorder the item. I say that I am not going to wait a few more weeks to see if they will come this time, just cancel the order. So she obliged but stated well sir just to let you know it may take up to 2 billing cycles for you to receive you money back.......whaaaaaat???? So you have had my money for a month and will possibly take 2 more to get it back. Wow, no wonder your profit margins are so high, making money off others and not delivering. Lesson learned.

Ok, done airing their laundry. Time for a couple beverages and decide what to complete tomorrow on the Chief.

Re: My Chieftan project

Jeez what a nightmare! Now to make you feel a bit better he was my nightmare today...

I just got back from a nearby neighborhood recovering my expensive box of gas lines from some scab with 5 pitbulls between the gate and his front door. Fed Ex idiot just found a house with a 3 on the door like mine and dropped it off yesterday. I called today and chewed their dumb asses locally and the boss sent the dunce to get the box. The driver is scared of the dogs so he leaves and calls me saying he's out of options to get the package and it's my problems now.

So I have my filler hose, vent hose, feed hose and some minor injuries. The biggest pitbull thought I was his best friend, the smallest thought I was his worst enemy and the others were on the fence. I fought my way to the door, stomping the little ones head with my boot and pushing the big jumping one off my chest. The scab with my hoses had of course opened up and rummaged through the expensive box looking for something that might interest him.

I hate Fed Ex and Wal Mart is a close second.

Re: My Chieftan project

I've always had great luck with the WalMart ship to store deal. Though, I've only used it about a half dozen times so I bet my number is up.

And....

Pit bull tastes just like chicken:hungry:

Man Water, you had an exciting week too......love it. How does the old saying go Misery loves company. Pit bulls are not happening. I believe I would have had to call the local authorities and ask they retrieve the box from them, and then maybe the scab could have explained opening a package that clearly did not have his name on it. At least you got your package and yes those hoses cost a few bucks to say the least.

Hey Waterman, this pic is for you

So I get home from work and get the rig partially unwrapped to do some more work and wouldn't you know it starts to rain. Rain forecasted all week thru Friday. Crappy winter, now crappy spring.

Any of you Chief owners with the chromed clam shell vents.... all 4 of mine are so pitted that I will not put them back on. Thought I could knock the rough spots off and maybe paint them but that idea didn't flush too well. I even tried the 4" angle grinder which took them down at least so where the pits could be filled but the ridge lines in the originals are impossible to grind. Anyone find a good substitute??

I tried that also WnW and painted them black. They didn't turn out that well so I'll be buying some new ones from somewhere.

Thanks for the Chief pic in the Tee Pee. More than you know, my Cheif will be outside wrapped up too pretty soon. After months of work in the garage, this weekend the admiral called the Chief "that thing". I think that's a sign. Yeah I feel your pain, I get plans to work outside and it gets windy and then rain.
