Re: My Daughter is very sick.
....From blood work and cat scans they figured out she has Osteomyelitis, which is an infection in the bone.....
Glad they identified it Mark. It is hard to see the little ones so afflicted but here is a quote from an internet site (Merck) that is heartening.
"Rarely, treatment is not successful....."
My now 97 y/o Daddy had Osteomyelitis in his knee when he was not much older than Amber. This would have been in the early '20's. They did not have a clue what to do although they were able to diagnose it. He spent a considerable time of his early youth in Childrens hospital. They ended up cutting out his knee joint and fusing his upper and lower leg together.
All the while I was growing up he walked on his tiptoe with a stiff right leg. It never slowed him down and there was not much he could not do. They told him (in the '70's) that if he had contracted the ailment today that he would still have functioning knee joint. They even considered going in and giving him a bionic knee.
As Osteomyelitis is usually an affliction of the very young or the old/older they decided against it out of fear that he could become re-infected. So he just soldiered on. Today he is pretty much confined to an electric cart or wheel chair but that has nothing to do with his past encounter.
Prayers will continue for Amber!
