I just ran across this tread today. Sorry to hear about Amber, but glad she is doing much better. I know there is nothing in the world that hurts as bad as the feeling of a sick or injured child that we as parents can do nothing about. (my eyes were tearing up as I read) Prayers will be coming your way, hang in there.

Amber had her PICC line removed this past Friday. I was surprised how long it was!!! About 22" or so. She is doing great. She no longer limps or favors her foot. She is out and about, running and playing and back to school full time.

She is especially happy to be back as school. And no further antibiotics, oral or otherwise are needed. In a few months, her leg muscels should be back to full size. We will measure once a week as per the DR. suggestion, just to be sure she is not still favoring the infected foot from habit.

A very hearty "Thank You" to all who prayed for her quick recovery. She got very lucky that it was caught so fast and no serious damage done.

Great news.. this is a perfect time for some dad and daughter bonding. like a walk or some kind of sport. some quality time with her and at the same time you could watch and make sure she's not favoring the leg.. just my 2 cents.

Mark, I'm so very glad for your daughter, and for you and your wife. These things are just so darn scary and so random - as much as the main concern is for the child, its not easy to be a parent and have to watch what they are going through either.

Its great to hear that she is out playing and laughing and just being a kid again. It doesn't get better than that!
