Re: My Daughter is very sick.
Just a quick update on Amber. Took her to see her Infectious disease doctor for her weekly visit. The doc was very pleased with Ambers progress, and thought that she might cut short the IV antibiotic by a week or so and switch her to oral. But for now Amber is still on IV antibiotics.
Wife and I are so relived that her recovery is going well. Everything the hospital and her doctor did worked right the first time, no setbacks and no real complications. The only side affect is minor atrophy in the muscles in her foot and calf from two weeks of non-use. Amber has a slim build so it is easy to see the difference between her feet/legs. But the muscles should build up again in a few weeks after she is walking again.
Yesterday she was practicing walking on carpet. I was surprised that she is able to put some weight on her foot without much pain. I help her flex her ancle, and do other exercises to get the ancle loose and flexible again. I think she will be walking fine early next week.
I never want us to have to go through something like this again, but you never know what life brings your way.
Thanks to all who sent well wishes and prayed for Amber's recovery.
Regards,
Mark
