So let me tell you I have very little knowledge on boat, but i am learning. I recieved this boat for free and a trailer soooo i figured why not have some fun.

I think it is a 1973 Larson Shark 1550 Bowrider, ive done my research a little. Do to fact I just brought it home and its dark out i havent been able to take any pictures. When i looked at it the other day the hull and the trasfon looks in good conditions no cracks and no tears and no crappy repair jobs. Flooring might need to be redone, might just redo it now rather than later, Engine is, i mean was a johnson electrica 40hp but now the lower unit is in the back of the boat on the floor have no idea they said it was a minor part and never got around to it. The boat itself hasnt been license since 2003, the trailer is in good shape just need rewired (tires i need new ones) hmm, the fron seats in the front and back section needs to be redone ( im a guy but i know how to use a sewing machine so i shall attempt that myself for ****s and giggles. stearing unit idk whats wrong stearing wheel dont move... SOOOOO

My name is Robert. I am 19 and I will be searching up and down on this forum for help through the process. Tomorrow i shall clean and post pictures! If anyone has any questions just ask, i know i will have alot.

Boats been sitting since 2001
Thanks

To post your pic you Click on the IMG Code and it will say Copied. Then you can paste it into your thread like this...

There should be a HIN Plate on the back of the transom or possible up by the throttle control or up under the dash. Better, Close up Pics would help us help you. This site has some good info too...Larson - Classic Boat Library

Need to take some pictures so we have a clue as to what your are looking at. You need to check for soft spots on the deck and check your transom really good. If there are any problems with these, worrying about motor and seats is really wasting time, IMHO. The boat has been sitting for 10yrs and I can't see someone maintaining a boat for 10yrs and not putting it in the water and due to its age a restore is most likely in order. If not, you got one heck of a deal.

Soooo i took pictures... here they alll are. the motor turns over btw so thats a good sign. bad sign its lower unit all in pieces...

( this boat can hold a 110 horse? wow)

(for my knowledge the hull is in good condition, there is no soft spots round the supports of the trailer..)

pieces... =[

Lotta moss stuff to clean off

Seats are good enought for the time being. stearing unit needs to be torn apart and fixed, key still in ignition.

I can almost positively tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt that as soon as you check for rot properly by taking core samples you will find it.

I can almost bet a couple of taps with a hammer will find rot.

Well guess I'm in for a long run then? The plywood still has the poly? Yellow stuff on the boards... I walked the whole boat nothing creaks or bends under my weighy I realize that I want a different color of carpet and I'll paint or pay someone to paint the boat later...

The trailer is the wrong trailer for the tri-hull. Incorrect support. Is the motor a manual or electric shift? You definitely need to core sample the transom.

Yea the boat is waaayyy to wobely on that trailer. But that's the only one I got... and for free.. lol core sample I am Goin to look that up again. Is that just drilling with a bit to see everything? So how big of a project did I get myself into? I think its an electric shift? I don't quite get what u mean by that. I'll probably have to buy a whole new lower unit parts. I think most of its there but idk

There are a handful of items to check on your boat, so before you spend any $$ I would get a idea of what is good and bad, then make the decision on what you will do.
I would be checking for rot under your floor, stringers and then drill the transom (from the inside)to see how bad it is. If this boat is rotted, you may want to consider the cost to repair before you begin. The engine looks like it was taken apart, and that usually is for a reason, does it run? If you need a new outboard it may be really costly to get her back to safe running order. It is your boat and your money in the end. As WOG suggested, the trailer needs to be reworked or replaced or you will have more problems. Post up good pictures of everything and everyone will respond back with really good advise.

I had 7 wheel barrows full of leaves and other debris... plus some good quality dirt from the leaves decaying...
