When I did mine (a few weeks ago) I scouted out which holes I was going to reuse and ran screws in them with wood backers on the outside so I didn't mar up the exterior glass. The bottom drain hole is an example.

One thing I would recommend is make sure to not just dry fit the wood but dry fit the glass you are laying as well. On the vertical surfaces putting the resin on the wood first really helps get the 1708 to lay good and flat so you can wet it out better and keep it flat. Also mix up a maximum of a quart of resin at a time. There is really no way you are going to properly spread out more than that before it starts kicking off. Get good quality resin. Don't use waxed at all.

I just used 7 gallons of resin, 12 yards of 1708 biax, and nearly 6 yards of CSM for my floor and transom. If I was also doing 2 stringers and a keel I think I'd add in a good 3 yards more 1708 and at least 2 gallons of resin. It is better to be way over on materials than be short and have to wait to get the supplies from your UPS guy.

1. is there any need for concern or how do i fix this .it looks like a coat of resin is what has cracked . the crack runs the the entire flat portion of the middle stringer location i have checked the entire exterior of the boat and not so much as the slightst sign of a crack. and due to an recent experiment i know the bottom is water tite

Nope nada to worry about. Grind it all out and bed your new stringers. It's fine.

when i took this one i looked closer and what ever is cracked is about 1/4 inch thick at most and is semi clear in color. i have no idea how to change the size of the pic but schroll down the pic is taller.

I am also a rookie regarding glass work. I guess wood is means by bedding, to set your stringers and bulkheads in resin, filler, chopped fiber mix with a consistency of peanut butter. As far as I know you need to do so so you don't create any hard spots at the hull. The bedding should be between 1/4" to 1/2" thick. But like I said before I never did glass work before but I am close to learn how to do it.

ok so what do i do just cut the old bed out and fill the empty space with resin and do i let it dry or do i set my prepared stringer in the uncured resin

Your going to make a PB mixture out of resin cabosil and milled 1/4 glass fibers and set the new stringer in the wet PB.... check the photos and descriptions on my resto thread

You're gunna get a 4 1/2 inch grinder and grind all that crap off the hull, then like Kotte and RickRyder said you'll bed your new stringers in Peanut butter or PL Adhesive.

i hit i low spot in the bed and went strait thru the hull :facepalm: is this repairable and is there an easier way th remove the old bed

If you use the PL, and I recommend it, use 1/4" spacers to hold the stringer off the hull and then squirt the PL under the stringer. Use a LARGE plastic spoon dipped in Paint thinner to COVE the PL to the stringer. Let it cure for 48 to 72 hours, then remove the spacers. Follow the instructions in the drawing for the rest. Get a back up pad and 34 grit sanding discs for that grinder. Harbor Freight has em.
No problem. Put some duct tape on the outside to keep the resin from oozing out and then mix up some thickened resin and smear it over it on the inside. then a layer of 1.5 oz mat and a layer of 1708 cloth. You can fix the outside later.

I feel your pain. I cut through my hull and could kick my a** for that. I did not fix it yet but the glass pros here will guide you through that.
