Picked up a new 2012 Ford Fusion SEL V6 on Wednesday. While not technically my family's first new car, it kinda is MY first new car
(We've had two other new ones but they were primarily my wife's vehicles). It is certainly the nicest car I've ever had. It's loaded with nearly every option except navigation, which I don't like to have built in anyway. It's black so I foresee a lot of washing and waxing in my future 
I love this car. The 3.0 has tons of power and it rides and handles nicely. The Ford Synch system is nothing short of amazing. The things you can do with it with voice commands and how it controls my phone and ipod are so cool. I have never owned a Ford product before. We've historically had primarily GM products and also had a Camry and an Accord. GM isn't making any sedans that I was particularly interested in and I didn't feel the Camry or the Accord had enough of a quality advantage to justify the price premium.
The weather hasn't been cooperative for me to take any good pictures but these are identical to mine:
