Some yrs ago a friend moved north from the hill's of W.VA. I had a wooden 17ft pen-yan, with a 100 hp mercruiser, he purchased it from me, he said he had never been in a boat in his life. When I sold it to him I said to my self, "self this should be interesting", all my friends said to me, "self this should be interesting" for weeks I showed him what I knew about this custom motor yacht and boating, " gave it a good try anyway " . I got married and my first night back from my honeymoon we was laying in bed and I said to my bride, wonder how Gary is doing, you guessed it, the phone rang. Mike , I bought this here !@#$%^ boat and it won't run or get on plane, well I went to the ramp, the boat was just about 5" from sinking, there was canvas tents, coolers, clothes, kids crawling all over this poor little thing. I tryed to tell him that too much weight will sink a boat and it won't get on a plane, "to no avail", like a heavy car going up a steep hill over loaded etc, he then told me that he can put all this in his 56 chevy and it would still run the hill's???? Again me trying to explain to him about boats, sinking, to looks of disbelief. After a while I looked at him and said " GARY, you need to get rid of some of these hillbillies" thinking this comment would upset him, he looked at me and said,
' why didin't you just say that in the first place
', so I showed him how to load a boat, we went to this island, made camp, I drank moonshine with them, [ don't try this at home ] got home sometime the next day, almost to a short marriage!!!!!!!!

Just re-read it and I don't know what's worse...The fact you left your bride on your wedding night, or the fact that you were thinking about yer buddy in bed INSTEAD of your new bride!

heheheh

Great story!

It was his first night BACK from his honeymoon. I think he will be OK. His bride must understand boaters.

After two years people may change their minds, so it may not tie in as well as it did in 2007....;)

Hmm, I don't even understand it. I must have missed a punch line, or some vital info or something. Is there a Rosetta Stone package for learning hilbilly humor?
