Nice job 1cobia!
I have 86 invader, and I have the same problem, rot stringers around the gas tank.
I am going to start open apart soon

Thank you for the nice pictures and info.

Looking good!!

Hard to see but do you have a drain chennel into the bilge from the fueltank well?? [it is a belly tank right??

Im keeping a good eye on this, becouse your layout is almost the same as my 20' Rinker.

But then wouldn't the fuel tank compartment then become an extension of the bilge? I don't understand is the bilge lower than the tank comp. doesn't look like it could be?

Re: my stringer job 19' Cobia with pics

Thank you for all of the information on your repair. I am starting a similar repair on my 1985 21' Cobia bowrider. Most of my repair, atleast the beginning of it is located in the stern of the boat. I am replacing the spongy deck from the gas tank to the transom. Where I can get to most of the deck, reaching the deck where it attaches to the transom is difficult to cut out. The transom and the engine compartment is also coated with a black tar like coating, or is some kind of black fiber. Was your Cobia coated in a similar manner? Did you have to remove it, and how? Thanks in advance for any help!
