Is there any gear you can move around in the boat before you go through all this trouble? Spare battery, fuel, tools, anchor? I'd mess with that first to see how close you can get it.

take the red strap loose and just start crankin the winch.

you could jack up the boat and spray the bunks with silicone lube

Jack the back corners up & winch it on. You can put the nose of the trailer down with the tongue jack, Then block up the back corners and then raise the tongue jack, This will get the boat off of the boards where you can winch it on.

As others suggested, block the front of both wheels, crank the wench and on the boat's rear corners, get 2 x guys to push forwards smoothly. This is how I moved my 17ft boat forward - when I moved my boat's front wench post forward 4". Once the boat starts moving on the rugs, it moves forward. If you have a transom bar on your trailer, remember to remove it - before trying to push / pull the boat forward.

Also.... Within your picture, I noticed you have the spare tire mounted under the boat's front keel. If you move the boat forward, the boat might rub the spare tire. Or, the spare tire might bounce up and rub the keel (and marking it). For damage prevention, I would buy a spare tire mounting bracket and move the spare tire to the trailer's tongue. This will create more tongue weight as well. re: http://static.ddmcdn.com/gif/spare-tire-mount-4.jpg

To view my Boat's Capri Trailer (with mounted boat) and its spare tire / front toque area, surf:

As seen, both jack and spare tire can be mounted on the tongue - without getting in each other's way...

Hey I've heard of several guys having your same problem. I'm not sure from your pictures if you have a square box tube on the front of your trailer somewhere that is totally enclose such as both ends of tube are welded shut. The guys I know have fixed this problem by drilling a 3/8 hole in the enclosed tube and using a funnel to dump steel shot "that you would use to reload shot gun shells" into the tube filling it up and creating more hitch weight then just capped the hole off with silicone to seal it up. Hope that helps NTFD 522

Something is not right. your should be able to winch a 1600# Boat on the level with no problems.
For that mater the boat looks a lot heavier than that, the trailer is 2250# GAWR. (Gross)
What does all this actually weigh? What Model is your Tahoe?

Hitch it to the truck.
Pull Forward about 2 feet and Tap the Brakes.
It will be less than a panic stop on the Freeway for sure. :D

no they have Rinker boats about your same size. Another thing I will mention is you say you have extra over load or helper springs? How my extra LBS of capacity did they give you I've notice on my truck with my hell wig helper springs sometimes it feels like the back of my truck is lifting while towing my boat or other trailers because there isn't enough weight to compress the extra added on springs. It may be a factor of your extra springs are doing there job of keeping your truck from squatting but aren't being loaded up enough and a making it feel like your hitch weight isn't enough. There is probly enough hitch weight there for a stock truck but your extra springs are throwing it off.

Way too much Speculation going on here here!

What is the Total Weight of the Trailer and Boat?
What is the Tongue weight?

Without those answers we are just blowing smoke.

Bravo Uncle Willie! I was thinking the same thing.

It's a waste of time jacking with the winch stand if you don't know the tongue weight on the trailer ball. You should be looking at 10-12% of the total weight of the trailer and boat.

Then, get the surge hitch replaced or rebuilt. The surge cylinder could move around due to having no fluid in it. It alone could be your problem.

And while you're at it, make sure you're running 50 lbs. in the tires and that the tires are the proper size for the weight. And get the bearings cleaned, inspected and repacked on any trailer you're not familiar with the history of.

Usually the OEM trailers boats are delivered on have the proper weight and adjustments made to handle the boats. You're towing with a perfectly great vehicle, so that's not the problem.

actually it's plainly obvious from the pics that the transom is not supported... boat MUST be moved forward... next comes the measuring tongue and gross trailer weight.

well to update everyone i got it moved forward

and man she tows like a tottally different trailer, just from the quick drive back from the launch (had to take it down to float it on) it was like night and day

i was even able to keep my spare in the same spot

and actually the next upgrade is switching over to electric brakes, 90 bucks a side plus the controler

Good job, Loos great on there. I think you still need to come up a little to get the bunks past the transom a little so you don't "hook" the transom. (the bunke push up the bottom of the boat thus creating a "hook" at the transom)

The bottom bunks are pretty much flush with the transom. I thought that would be fine.

Now the new problem i am having is with the wiring. Its over heating and i have no idea why

Just be sure you can remove the spare with the boat on the trailer.

The wiring on the trailer is overheating? Look for corroded connections.

Ya i was trying to do that tonight when i realized but now i just got to get up early tomorrow cause we are going for a ride in the morn

But ya the spare is good cause i originally took it off before i adjusted it just in case. I actually put it back in its spot after being moved
