I have a 89 200 hp johnson that has an alarm going off as soon a I turn the key on.(hot or cold). The guy before me took the oil tank out and started premixing the fuel. Not sure if he unhook some or hooked something up wrong.Took it to the water and it will not turn over 1500 to 2000 rpms. Sounds like it is in limp mod.Any idea where to start?

Thanks

Make sure you are using premix.

find the VRO pump and unhook the wire connection coming from it.

Find the oil tank and do the same.

still have the issue?

when you turn the key one click to the right does your alarm buzzer beep once?

verify that the engine is cooling. You should be able to hold your palm on the top of the cylinder heads. Is there a clear strong stream from the telltale indicator?

I put an after market fuel pump on it so the VRO pump is gone. The oil tank is also already removed. There is a brown wire with a small eyelet that I can unhook and the alarm stops. The wire is brown and has a black sleeve over it and it says PVC tubing 105c ? The alarm never stop buzzing.

Might it be a tan wire? If so that's from the temp sensor and your motor is o reheating or thinks its overheating.

Check the cylinder heads for a temp sender which has the brown wire.

The wire that is unhooked (that has an eyelet on it) goes to the terminal board. All the wires to the heat sensors are hooked up.I started the engine with alarm going off ,then unhooked the heat sensors wires and did nothing it still went off. I ran the engine for a good 20 min. and I could put my hand on the heads Its is not hot! This is Y I hate working on something behind that someone has already tried to fix!! Thanks for all the help!!

That sounds more like the fuel restriction wire to me. Which aftermarket pump did you use as I have not seen many successful conversions.
