Okay guys.. I narrowed down my boat search to a couple of boats. This coming Saturday ill be looking at a 1998 rinker 232 open bow . It has a 7.4 mericruiser with a bravo outdrive. Not sure on prop size as I haven't seen the boat yet.It has been in salt water but flushed out after use and stored in dry-dock the past 8 yrs. He is the 3rd owner .Comes with a aluminum trailer with brakes. For the past 8 yrs he has had it serviced at Rinker world here in Houston and recommended to head that direction to ask what work exactly the boat has had. He said he has always followed there recommendations . New drive seals were replaced along with a tune up and batteries replaced this current boating season. Any advice on the questions and what to look for would be helpful. Also how would I find out if the prop is stock? I do know he stated the top speed was 51 mph. He does have a GPS on board .. not sure what that does but I will ask if I remember. I'm hoping a upgrade on prop will get me a little more speed but If not... I will be happy at 50 mph since my last little 17ft Searay topped out at 37mph.

Not sure what type of bravo it has. It there a way to check while I'm there? Is one better than the other? Actually I didn't know what the gps did but a quick search of Google informed me pretty quick.

Bravo1 is a single propeller. Bravo3 is dual counter-rotating propellers

with a single Mercruiser 7.4 it is more than likely a Bravo III. Why so fixated on the size of prop and whether its stock??

Agree on the "prop size" question. How you will load and use the boat will determine whether you need a different prop or not. Load it up the way you normally run and if the engine gets into the higher end of the recommended WOT range (4200- 4600) you are good to go.

I previously owned a Rinker. They build a really nice solid boat.

Call me crazy but I see more Bravo 1's on the big blocks than the Bravo 3's. I see far more B3's on the 5.7's and 6.2's. Wonder which it is for the op.

If it is the boat that I posted the link to, it is a Bravo1.

If it is the boat that I posted the link to, it is a Bravo1.

That is interesting, i wouldn't have expected that. From Merc.:

Bravo One: Intended for single, twin and triple applications for boats that go over 100 mph, gas engines up to 600HP and diesil engines up to 370 hp

Bravo Two: Twin applications up to 55 mph, gas engines up to 450 hp and diesel engines up to 370 hp

Bravo Three: Single/twin applications up to 65 mph, gas engines up to 525 hp or diesel up to 370 hp

I wouldn't have expected the boat in that link to come with a B1. I guess you learn something new everyday.
