the hook will be pointing forward towards the boat .
remove your airsilencer all the way to the carbs
in there you will see a shift arm that hooks to your controls.
at the end of the arm under bottom carb you will see a prong that has groove in it and hole for your shift link its under bottom carb .
prob logging off , but will check if you post in next30 min
be back on tomorow.

ok lets start with this... I AM AN IDIOT RIGHT NOW. i had the linkage in FWD causing the assembly with screw attached to move up into the motor hidden so i couldnt see it..... wow. ok next how long should my shift shaft be for this motor? io wanna make sure its ok before i sintall it as i know it turned a bit.

they make a tool to check mech says you can turn all way in and back out 7 turns that would put you in ballpark havent tried it
if you do count turns in so you can put it back if it doesnt compare
or just install on motor and check to see if tou have f n r
you can always pull it off if it doesnt work.
and take to evin mech and have him check shift rod height

am i measuring this right? it measures near 22 1/2 inches to the middle of the eye. i just realized its in fwd gear, as when i pulled the grear housing down it pulled itself into fwd and the shifter into reverse, so i will have to take it to the mech to figure it out.

hey vet whats up . iwould install it if you havent knowingly turned it ,
noy sure what the height is but if you search threads. on it there is tons of info.

alright i will, didnt have time to get the pump today had to get 3 mercruiser 5.7s that i bought. will do tomm.

ok, got everything hooked up, i just got ewverthing togehter, then disaster... i forgot to put that exhaust boot in...O NO!! how important is that exhaust boot? i was thinking of keeping it till next time i do lower unit work then slip it back on.
