Generally, The battery with the most amp hours you can get if your boat can handle the weight of the battery. You want a good quality deep cycle batt. You get what you pay for.

hey there ive had very good luck with my optima gel cell battery. ive gone out 2 days in a row with out charging it. The gell cells tend to last a little longer than a normal wet batt.and you dont have to worry about spills. the only downfall is that they can put a dent in the wallet. but if your looking for a good quality batt its a good investment.optima web site-learn more here

Size matters. Unless you are buying expensive, high-end batteries, consider:

Rule #1 – plan on using no more than 50% of the batteries a/Hr capacity. This will greatly preserve the overall usable life of the battery.

Other Rule #1 – plan on an amp discharge rate not to exceed 5% of the battery’s a/Hr capacity to obtain performance at the battery’s rated a/Hrs. Discharging at a rate higher than 5% reduces the amps available.

A 100-a/hr battery will yield an appropriate 50 amps max over a 10-hr period at 5 amp/hr.
A 100-a/hr battery will yield an appropriate 50 amps max over a 20-hr period at 2.5 amp/hr.
A 100-a/hr battery will NOT yield an appropriate 50 amps max over a 5-hr period at 10 amp/hr.

If you need more amps, add more batteries (same size, make, model only!) in parallel.

Yeah, I've allways heard good things about Optimas. Make sure to charge them up as soon as possible after use and they will last for a really long time.
