Need help from original owners of '94 Spectrum alum hull boat.

I have a '94 Spectrum "16 Sport" welded hull aluminum boat. I am third owner. I have the original sales receipts and motor Operator's Manual, but no other manufacturer info on the boat. I'd like to know the maximum motor, weight, and passenger ratings of my boat.

I can not find the Coast Guard (CG) maximum capacity safety data plate on the boat. I am not positive it is "missing", rather it may be covered.

I have done many searches of this web site, and Google, and I see several other Spectrum owners with the same issue, or asking for "replacement" decals for the CG-required information.

I see no place where a "sticker" or decal could have been mounted, except where it would be in the way of a motor mount. Normally, the CG data plate is mounted below or underneath the splash guard on the transom. Everything below the splash guard on this boat is covered in carpet. I am wondering if these boats come with a normal metal data plate, and it is hidden behind one of these carpeted trim panels.

The alternative to a permanent data plate is a "sticker" or decal that had the tendency to be removed or "fall off" after a period of time.

Thus the question to an original owner of a Spectrum boat: did you ever see a CG max capacity data plate? If so, where was it mounted, and was it a sticker or a plate?

I could answer my own question by randomly removing screws and pulling panels from the hull. There are a lot of panels and screws. I don't like disturbing 14 year old sheet metal screws, possibly buggering screw slots or holes, and it is a lot of work. If on the transom, I would like to start with the correct panel. If data plate is definitely not on the transom, or was likely a sticker that easily fell off, then I will leave it go. (Make sense?)

Thanks for the help!

I had a 1995 Spectrum Avenger SC 16' 8" , rated for 75 hp.
To be legal, the rating plate had to be easily visible from the helm.
That is why mine was located 3 inches in front of the controls.
You can see just a hint of the yellow in the photo.

So, what is the Sport? The 16' 8" hull, with walkthru windshield? I have seen them with 90hp on them.

Brunswick made them in 1991-1996? Sold them to Bass Pro/Tracker with the Fisher boat line sometime in the late 90's.

This is a 94 Dominator. You can barely see the upper left corner of the tag.

I found one for you.
THere is one for sale on ebay right now.
Has a photo of the rating plate. Can't tell where it is mounted, but you can get all the info from it and have one made up. Heck, you could even print up a few from the photo, laminate them, and mount them in the boat.

ebay item number 230257169787

Looks like the same hull as my Avenger, but with a walkthru windshield.

Rated for 75 hp.

Thank you to all that replied!

As per CG regs, the data plate must be visible. That pretty much kills the idea that it is 'hidden' by a trim pannel or upholstery. Maybe I'll find the stubs of the aluminum rivits where a previous owner ripped it off the attachment point.

I saw the ebay boat, and plate. That gets me as close as I need for my purposes. For CG purposes, I think a 5x7 card through the color printer, and a "freezer" ZipLoc will make the plate. Duct tape it so it shows through the Cassette cover flap, and I am done. It can hold the registration card and monoxide sticker, too. (Who puts a music radio on a fishin' boat?!)
