I have a '94 Spectrum "16 Sport" welded hull aluminum boat. I am third owner. I have the original sales receipts and motor Operator's Manual, but no other manufacturer info on the boat. I'd like to know the maximum motor, weight, and passenger ratings of my boat.
I can not find the Coast Guard (CG) maximum capacity safety data plate on the boat. I am not positive it is "missing", rather it may be covered.
I have done many searches of this web site, and Google, and I see several other Spectrum owners with the same issue, or asking for "replacement" decals for the CG-required information.
I see no place where a "sticker" or decal could have been mounted, except where it would be in the way of a motor mount. Normally, the CG data plate is mounted below or underneath the splash guard on the transom. Everything below the splash guard on this boat is covered in carpet. I am wondering if these boats come with a normal metal data plate, and it is hidden behind one of these carpeted trim panels.
The alternative to a permanent data plate is a "sticker" or decal that had the tendency to be removed or "fall off" after a period of time.
Thus the question to an original owner of a Spectrum boat: did you ever see a CG max capacity data plate? If so, where was it mounted, and was it a sticker or a plate?
I could answer my own question by randomly removing screws and pulling panels from the hull. There are a lot of panels and screws. I don't like disturbing 14 year old sheet metal screws, possibly buggering screw slots or holes, and it is a lot of work. If on the transom, I would like to start with the correct panel. If data plate is definitely not on the transom, or was likely a sticker that easily fell off, then I will leave it go. (Make sense?)
Thanks for the help!
