I am having some serious control box issues.

Here's whats going on. When I re-assembled the control box, I lined the TDC with the top of the box . Put everything together, and checked for idle / neutral with the shift handle up.

It was in forward. So I moved the shift handle around, so neutral/idle is on top.

Then forward engages around where full throttle should be, full throttle is around and on the bottom (i.e. full down of the handle almost). And there is no reverse. Well, there is - but by the time the shifter gets into reverse - too late. Engine is already opened up and it only grinds.

The throttle cable is adjusted correctly .. Is this my shifter cable, or ???? adjustment??

Is there any "easy" way to adjust this thing? It's a major PITA to pull the connectors out of the motor.

BTW: 67 Merc 650 (65 hp) outboard with an old Merc Control box.
