Re: Need help with motor

Sorry to say, but that number comes up as a 1981, not '91....

Which plugs were clean?

Numbers 1 and 3 are on the same switchbox... Just for S&G swap the wires that go to those coils.... See how you go... Just an (educated) guess... Easy to do and won't hurt anything if I'm wrong....

What you were reading was me saying that the resistance of the windings varied with temperature, not the performance.

There is a seasonal variation but it works the other way... Better performance in cooler weather... That's because cool air is denser than warm and that means more oxygen available in each charge....

Have you done any further diagnostics as to your problem? One that I would do, but it needs 2 people. Run the engine at high rpm and, with the engine cover off, CAREFULLY put your hand (or something flat) over the air intake of the carbs, one at a time.... If you get an increase when you cover one of them.... You have a fuel problem..... and you've even isolated which one... :D

Re: Need help with motor

Sorry, the only way it to remove the powerhead... The off with the outer exhaust covers and that gives you access to the inner cover. Before you remove the inner cover, have a look at the gasket surface area, you'll see washed areas emanating from the gasket... That's where the water's getting in... Remove that cover, clean all the surfaces and put new gaskets in, and epoxy the bolts in, and you're good to go. While you have the powerhead off, replace the 2 lower crankshaft seals.
