A seized 3.7L is a boat anchor, basically not rebuild able or worth it really.. It shares the cylinder head, rods and pistons from a Ford 460, and those parts are easy to get. BUT the camshaft and crankshaft are not standard parts and have not been manufactured since the very early 1990's

A 4.3L is the replacement just not a drop in, but a 165 inline 6 would also work.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Probably not,....

The most common part number for the 470 motors is NLA,....

The cost to rebuild a 470 motor is more than buying a much newer and reliable 4.3

yes, same motor has output of 165, 170, 180 and 185. the later having the 4 barrel.

Mercruiser calls it a 470

however it is a mercruiser only cam, mercruiser only crank, mercruiser only block, a mercruiser only front damper, a ford FE head with a hole drilled in it, ford FE pistons and connecting connecting rods, a GM flywheel

so if parts are not available from Mercruiser, they are not available.

the reason the motor is frozen is most likely because it overheated and water was in the pistons when the motor was parked a long while ago. sitting neglected just makes things worst.

however prior to looking at the motor, make sure the drive is pulled in the event the drive is toast.

Couple of things.... first, if you haven't already, pull the outdrive off, it may be seized not the engine.

Don't order any internal engine parts if your going to rebuild it yet. You have to have it looked at first by a machine shop before you order things like main and rod bearings and piston rings. You have to have machine work done if necessary, first, in case over sized bearings/rings are needed. If machine work is needed, the shop will tell you what to order. Pull the plugs out next and see if it turns, then I'd pull the head off and see what it looks like in there before ordering anything.

Hey guys just talked with a friend and he says the engine might not be stuck instead it might be the water pump wich is connected to the engine through gears is that possible, thanks
