Motor is a 1972 55hp flywheel magneto engine 2 cylinder. After recent posts and much checking of the ignition system i am convinced that the 2nd cylinder coil is bad. It also broke off the spark plug wire hehe. So the coil is done, and I am in need of another one. My question is where are there any available and what engines have it that will fit mine? Engines serial number is 555HF. Thanks in advance..

Re: need magneto coil

Do you have 2 magneto's under the flywheel? and two black coils on the side of the engine? I have never heard of that its usually one or the other, but if you need a new magneto try Franz at franzmarine@aol.com I have a 1973 55hp Model 555HF, I just converted to stator ignition from a 1985 50hp Force.

Re: need magneto coil

Magneto coils from almost any early year Chrysler 35, 45, or 55 will fit. In fact, if you can find a junker, the whole magneto plate and points assembly will swap.

If you want a new one, you can try franz at franzmarine@aol.com or Standard Magneto Sales, 4119 West Grand Ave, Chicago. Il 60651 1800 624 6386 New ones are not cheap!
