Re: Netbooks?
Well, I see the misinformation gurus have gotten to you.
Don't plan on convincing you of anything, but...
Our macs are used by several users, free to go anywhere on the web, view or download what they choose, there is no being careful where you go or what you download. All locations are unsecured locations if you aren't in control of it.
Sure win7 is better than its predecessors, but ow many millions have had to suffer through the years with '98, Millennium, xp, vista? before they made a better 7 ?
Most of 7's features and improvements have been available in os x for years.
Don't know how the user can be responsible for viruses, malware, spyware, etc. You must have an os issue.
If you don't think a mac can be "personalized" or customized, you are mistaken.
No problem networking a Mac to a pc or frame based network.
I do it monthly.
The wife does it a couple times a week.
Nephew does it daily.
Can read your files and even use your software.
"Not much of an argument can be made that macs are more reliable than Windows based PC's as most macs now come with intel CPU's! LOL "
Not sure what your point is here, thought we were talking os. But Apple sought out the joint venture to develop and engineer the new Intel chips, to replace the old Motorola chips.
Needed to do this for speed, cost and efficiency. And because of the architecture, I can run windows on it if I like.
90% of computers are win based.
But 91% of the premium market, units priced over $1000, are Macs.
14% of college students used macs in 2005
40% in 2008
And 70% in 2010
See a trend here?
OS *** has been open source for years, its been Microsoft that has been hiding behind the curtain for a long time.
Software is not rare or expensive. How many tens of thousands of programs do you want to buy?
Have a "need" to run a very special or customized win program, then use Parallels or partition your drive and install xp on the mac. It will run fine, and you can run anything you think you need. Let's see now, lets try to run Aperture, or Final Cut Express on your pc.
"....an operating system that nobody knows how to use..."
If you can't use os x, you probably can't use Explorer, or Outlook Express either.
The gui, templates, format, etc are so similar, almost most seems like Apple and Microsoft have been collaborating to make them look and function the same. Sure they have different names, but honestly, how long will it take you to learn that "system preferences" is the same as "control panel"? Or that Safari is the name of the browser, or that MAIL is the name of the email program?
I never said there were windows drivers. I said there were driver and software issues.
There have always been a lot of driver issues with windows.
Lets not forget about all the consumers that were/are forced to buy new peripherals to replace the ones they bought last year. And yes, it is Microsoft's fault that they didn't write an os that would allow the older hardware to be used.
Sure, they don't write the drivers, but they wrote the os.
That would be like Ford designing a new car, then telling you that all your cd's won't work in it; you will need to buy new ones.
Anyone know what backwards compatible is?
You have nothing against macs, except they are ridiculously slow and weak.
Huh? Thats like saying "I really like apple pie, but I hate the taste."
If you want to USE a computer without spending time maintaining the software, doing security updates, learning to be a network technician and computer software tech, a Mac is the obvious choice.
If you want to spend your time tinkering and maintaining, go with a Windows machine.
Now I'm sure I made this all up, and can't back any of it up, so just forget you ever read it.
