Re: new boat possible problem

Well I spoke with 2 other boat shops and they both said that its a head scratcher and that they've never heard of such thing. They also said that the boat must be a lemon, and that its rare but does happen time to time that a very good boat manufacturer messes one up. They said it has to be the boat because we're not getting the speed we should and that it overheats turning one way and not the other. So I called my dealer and they seemed to beat around the bush till I told them I talked to two other shops and both came to the same conclusion. Its astonishing how fast customer service can change when you tell a dealer that two other company's say that there boats screwed up. So I'm taking her to the dealer on Monday. I'll let you guys know what they come up with.

What is there to be a 'lemon' on a pontoon? I could see if there were leaks, etc... But while it has an issue ~ I'm not sure this qualifies it to be a lemon??? There's a pontoon, and a motor. I guess if I were the dealer, I'd want it back for a couple days, and 'fiddle' with it. Move an engine up or down, look at the turbulence in the water... and maybe install a different engine altogether and see if it makes any difference... But it's a wierd problem for sure.

The 2 boat shops said that if the motor or transom or one of the toons is off an inch or more it could make an effect on it, causing it to overheat. One of them said that out of 300 some boats he's sold he's had to send 2 back because something was out of wack and they simply wouldn't perform like the rest.

One thing you might want to try is pull up next to another pontoon boat and see where there motor sits in the water. Talk to them and compair notes.
