If it an older boat, I like the seatow membership. You can even relabel it as a "Get out of Doh! free" card ;)

The safety items are always something nobody wants to buy for themselves (a GPS always seems more fun than a live vest), and it also gives you the chance to help explain the importance of all and help find good storage/mounting spots for them all.

I agree on the SeaTow or Towboat membership...

TD's drybag is a great item (I would like mine filled Diane!..HINT)

One thing that has not been mentioned, how about a paying for a new boat name graphic from a local graphics shop?

Diane had this one done for our boat for 56 bucks..

Just wondering if Iboats ,or ,say West Marine has a gift registry ??? This would work well for any occasion ......and it wouldn't limit the gift price for GENEROUS spenders....lol :D

Re: New Boaters Christmas

the best gift i ever got, was a water proof, boat bag. registration, wallet, cell phone, extra key, handle held VHF, all goes into the bad. then it does not matter which boat i use, i just take the boat bag.

That's cool. I got one of the dry bags. It works for clothes but dumping small items in it is not optimal.

A casual boater might want one of the small cell phone bags.

looking at this again..It says NEW boater's Christmas..

How about signing em up and GOING with them to a boaters safety course?

Could be the reason they have a Christmas in the future..;)

Thought of another one, and I didn't see it mentioned yet. Service manuals, for boat, engine and out drive. Everyone should have one if they do any of their own service. Another of those gifts that everyone needs, but always seem to forget to buy. Until they need it "now" and have to wait for it to show up from Amazon or Ebay.

Beat me to it:D

Or how about a New or a Renewal subscription for a boating magazine, Like http://www.boatingmag.com/ Or
http://www.trailerboats.com/. Ect,

Or a gift card from Overtons Or Iboats, ect,
http://www.overtons.com/modperl/pro...rd_Design&merchID=1008&str=ovwake&from=search

Or a Boating Calendar of some kind, Didn't I see a thread about iBoats making a calendar some time ago.:)

Or maybe a shirt or sweater with a photo of his boat on the back with the name of the boat on there as well.:)
