Re: New CC, take 2

Makin some good progress Chief, is the Royal blue a Rusto color?

Yes, it's Rustoleum Marine royal blue. I got it to touch up the paint on the Jet but liked it so well I used it on the dash and transom of my Aerocraft in addition to the Mariner. I hope to paint the top on inside of the gunwale with it once it warms up a bit more.

Thanks Chief, I guess that's why I haven't seen that color on the shelf up here, it is Marine. for some reason that line is not available up here.

Looking good Chief! I too like the color --- nice to see variety in the paint schemes of these boats!

So what's left on the docket for the splash... are you doing the interior?? I can't seem to recall.

IM, the deck is in decent shape so I'm leaving it be. But I swapped consoles and am going to use the MC's. I still have to fasten the console down, run the throttle cables, install a horn, install my gas tank and tank box/doghouse, and mount the engine. I'll probably find a few more minor things to do along the way but that's about it!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know where Jason is? I noticed he has not been on in quite some time... odd for such a long time poster!

He'll be back. Gave up the internet for lent.
Didn't he mention no cable too? :faint2: Will power is right......

Boat work is acceptable I suspect, so hopefully he has a massive Islander update pending. Heck, he might have bought another tinny and slammed it thru the Jas speedy resto program & have launch photos too...... Not to mention a donor boat or 2......

I mounted the engine today... chain hoist came in very handy again! One thing about the low slung trailer is that I cannot use the tongue jack unless the engine is tilted up quite a bit otherwise the skeg hits the ground. 2013-03-17_16-09-28_431.jpg2013-03-17_16-09-28_431.jpg

Chief - Get a transom saver. Not to save the transom, but to save the skeg. And just in case the tilt decides to un-tilt. And you can jack up the trailer.

Those are the brackets that go between the trailer and the forward edge of the lower unit right? Its on my list of things to buy, I would have to use it to drive anywhere because theres just no room to lift the trailer tongue up to my truck's hitch.

Gotta love the chain hoist!

Its been a life saver this time around!

I went to hook up the engine yesterday to tilt the motor up... cant find any battery cables! And no where for them to come from... must be just staring me in the face. At least the dealer I bought it from was very nice and said if I ran into any troubles give him a call... maybe the newer 'Rudes have them somewhere else.

Did you get controls with the motor? Maybe the harness from the control to the motor has the battery cables.

They attach to some pretty non-obvious places on the port side of the motor. The positive will be a vertical brass stud near the starter but the negative is a just a nut below that somewhere I can't really describe.

Re: New CC, take 2

Thanks EZ.. I wonder if he did not include them perhaps. The other odd thing is there is about a 3' cable that goes from the engine down to the power tilt unit.. far longer then required. Would there me some reason the battery cables are routed down through the TNT?
