Well.. Unforunatly, global warming is real, and we've all gota make sacrifices to prevent the earth from undergoing drastic climate change. Scientist have proven that suden drastic changes have taken place numerous times throughout history.

And some catylitic convertors in boats is a lot cheaper than the damge that would result from 10 category 5 huricanes hitting the eastern side of north america every year, or from the oceans rising 15+ feet.

And on the subject of coal, I hope obama tells china that the US will no longer trade with them unless they implement clean burning coal technology. The chinnese are burning more and more coal every day.

I'm canadian, and our prime minister said today that he's been waiting for obama to get in so he can start negotiating a carbon cap and trade system for all of north america.

I hope we can take care of this problem like we did with the o-zone layer. The clocks ticking, and if the climate does drastically change in the course of 1 year, our sociaty will be turned upside down!

Scientists are already working on band-aid solutions to buy us more time like firing sulfer into the atmosphere and pumping carbon into underground/underwater caverns.

WHOA! Stop right there! No it isn't. The Earth is cooling again. Where have you been?
And besides, boats are not causing enough "pollution" to hurt a fly.

I am actually happy that the marine manufacturers are going to a closed loop EFI system, as the fuel economy will increase. I wish they would have done it years ago. But I do not support the dictated use of catalytic converters and the huge costs that they will pass on to the consumer.

Catalytic converters have nothing to do with global warming. All they do is reduce the polutants such as NOx, HC and CO. And what do these polutants come out as??? Carbon compounds as CO2 and NOx as elemental nitrogen and water.

I remember in my old 1988 Jeep, when it had a misfire, I pulled over, and the Cat was on fire. The undercoating from the frame was dripping off as little fire balls. Put it out with my extinguisher. Not too big of a deal, but if it were to happen in a boat?? Much different story.

I think going to the closed loop system is good, but I hate that Cat idea because of the excess heat that is created. Not really a big deal for me because I know that I will never be buying one of those anyways. Great for the used boat market though.

Have a great day,

Rob.
