Have a 87' crusier that recently had the drive serviced has the alpha 1 and has a merc 5.7 260 recently the boat started to lean towards the starboard side when crusing this boat is 26 ft and my 19ft doesn't do this, the boat does have bennet trim tabs and they seem to be straight and not bent and function properly, anyone know whats up this is driving me crazy.
Thanks again

Re: new problem with boat

Is it only doing it while moving? What about while sitting idle in the water?

When it's leaning, is it also turning? Check the anti-torque anode which is just over the prop. It should be mounted slightly off 90?.

If it's leaning all the time, check the loading of the boat. Is everything off to the STBD side? Check in the bilge compartments for water collecting. Look for leaking bellows or water intakes.

Re: new problem with boat

At the recent service, could they have adjusted the trim tab on the bottom of the outdrive cav plate? I know that will make a much bigger difference on smaller boats, not positive on a 26 cruiser. Might take some trial and error to get it back into the sweet spot.

You might be answering your own question. If your current prop would not allow the correct anode, then that could be the reason for your steering torque. Put the correct sized prop on and the correct anode (positioned appropriately) and see if that corrects your issue.
