How do you decide which type of glass to use in each area?

I want to glass the new rear storage and casting decks. They don't need to look smooth as I plan to durabak it.

I also want to put an additional layer on the floor and up the interior gunnels/sides of the hull. What should I use here?

Lastly, on the top edge of the rolled gunnel where there is minor dock damage, what should I repair with?

Again, I'm not too worried about finish as th entire boat will be durabak coated on the interior (except the new livewell). So, a thicker glass won't bug me.

I'd recommend the standard 1.5 oz CSM and 1708 Biaxial Cloth to do all that you are wanting to do. uscomposites 435 resin should be plenty good for your needs.

I got tied up with fishing, a new son, and other projects- but I'm back into my boat.
It runs/works just fine, so it's tough to tear into it during the good part of the year!

Anyhow, I wanted to see if I could get some clarification on your mat/cloth recommendation.

I plan to re-glass the inside of the gunnels, and up over the top of the rolled-gunnel to give it a little added rigidity.

I also plan to encapsulate and tab in the new storage boxes/livewell, and the new front casting deck.

Can you explain which material I should use in each area?

There is the framing for the start to my storage boxes/baitwell.

How should I go about glassing this in?

I'd prefer to use Polyester due to the overall lack of resale on this boat. If done right, it will still last for a while and it will cost significantly less.

The port side box is going to be a baitwell, so it needs to be extremely water tight.
The starboard side will house the battery, and eventually a perko switch and possibly a 2nd battery for electronics.
The center will have all of the rigging you see neatly run through a corrugated tube. It will also have PFDs, Flares, toolkit, stern light extension, etc.

I want to make sure the wood is completely sealed. I also want to make sure I can stand on this without any issues. I am considering extending an extra set of 'feet' from my poling tower, and mounting them into this rear deck as well. So, in other words, I want to make sure it is rock solid.

My concern is glassing the insides and undersides of the top.
I'm also not sure how to go about adding 'cleats' to allow the top deck to sit down on top of them around the outsides of the gunnels, and on the transom. If I am using polyester, it can't be used as glue - so how can I add cleats to the gunnels that the top deck can sit down onto?

Now, how should I wrap the decks and bulkheads, and how should I glass them to the hull sides transom, and deck?

i would drill holes in the front of the box in the back near the edges to allow your deck to self bail like it should. If not, water will just collect in the back of your deck in front of the box

I plan to add self bailing drains to the hull sides just forward of the aft boxes, like it currently has, and use the existing ones as drains for the storage boxes and baitwell.

Just making sure you thought about it before you have one of those oh crap moments at the end! :facepalm: i Know your going to love that boat to fish around galveston, plenty of spots to fish around there

Are you still a member? I have the same boat but the EasyRider version. Same in every way except the back section you added is already in the boat. I learned more about my boat from your threads.
