OK, I know there is a bunch of Bayliner haters out there, but I just can't afford more than like $15k financed (approx $200 mo) and since I'm new to boating have a small SUV to pull it and have a small family I think the 175 Bayliner will be great.
Anyway, I have been researching online and the online pricing at dealers out of my area is right on par with the MSRP that Bayliner lists online. But, I just went to my local dealer to check em out and they are priced at $4000 over MSRP!!!
The basic 175 is listed at $11,620 at bayliner.com as well as some west coast boat shops. My local Bakersfield dealer is saying $15,700 before fees, delivery, prep taxes etc.
I believe in keeping $$ in the local community but these prices are crazy.
Another thing the local dealer said is that they will not do any warranty work if I don't buy from them. I have bought RV's before and went out of town for significant savings, then got the warranty work done locally by a RV service place but not by the local dealer that sells the same brand RV.
Do boat warranties work the same? What I mean is, during the warranty period if something goes wrong, can I take it to a local Boat Reapair place and have them bill Bayliner for the work?
Thanks for any insight as to whether my local dealer is just marking these up like crazy.
PS I have been looking online at the used boats, and I have found a couple 2004/5 175 Bayliners down in LA area for like $8000. I guess I could also look into some other used boats in the $12k range. That would keep me around my $15k pricerange, but with no warranty.
