Re: New to Forums -> New to boating -> Old hat at restoration, just not boats
I surely hope you don't get disillusioned once starting the demolition of this project.
I hope I don't either
When I was in school I was quite the auto enthusiast. I restored (from frame up) a 1959 Chevy Bel Air (Not to original, we went custom)
and also a 1954 Ford Pickup (F-100) back to it's 'Original' look. Working on that old Y block was like getting to touch up the mona lisa

(I was a helper, not the primary and DEFINITELY not the financial backer of either of these projects)
Though that does not give me any knowledge about restoring a 1983 Skeeter Wrangler, it has taught me two things:
1. No really.. it's going to cost more than that..no... more than that to... seriously... did you bring your checkbook?
2. Hahaha you thought you were going to be done when?? Hahahahah
I also have a secondary motivation. I have spent money on something...
My wife, who is strait out of Proverbs 31, is so tight, I have seen her grab a quarter, and squeeze a booger out of George Washington's nose. She has so graciously allowed me to spend some of our funds on this project, and to give up on it would be to belittle several months worth of discussion, and insure Daddy gets no new toys for quite some time.
(She asks me about the boat almost daily. Nothing like the support of a good woman!)
I also have a 7 year old who just wants to go sit out in the boat and look at it all the time... bless his heart, he's got the bug!
I have spent several days looking at GT100000 and Woodonglass's posts, and now that you've brought my attention to GT1M... I'm going to camp out on his posts
I have also found a youtube/iboater named FriscoBoater restoring a CVX-18! He's just up in Frisco, about 40 min from here.
He's got great video/pictorial reviews and posts on here:
