Hi Wes, just read thru your thread. Nice job! Looks like you have a Starcraft jet like mine. You probably have the brackets on the sides for the original factory bench seats that were front and rear. They mounted them to the sides since the deck wasn't flat in those little boats. The flat deck you installed looks great, must of been fun:rolleyes: Have fun!

Wes I am sorry to say today is the first time I have seen your thread . Looks like you did a great job on her . On the seats you could do back to backs in her or do like I am planning for mine a pair of buckets up front and a bench across the rear leaving the middle wide open .

Re: New to iBoats: Starcraft Restoration Project

Hey Gents,

I really appreciate the kind comments. Yes I did have the dual bench seat config but I took it out because a couple of the mounts were compromised and I wanted more room to move about. My son and I use this boat for fishing quite often and having room is key. This past weekend I took the wife and daughter with my son and I and had a day of boating. Pulled the kids on a tube and just crashed around the lake all day. Would have been nice to have had seats

My plan now is to install two back-to-back seats which can be easily removed when we are just hitting the lake for fishing. Trying to find these on Craigslist is like finding a straw of hay in a needle stack...UGLY. $150/seat is just too much to pay for new. TD built his own back-to-backs...I just don't have that skill level or the time to put into it.

If anyone has a lead or ideas on where I can get a pair of seats...please PM me or post on this thread.

Here she is about a month ago on Bartlett lake...one of a few local lakes close to the city. Lot's of bass...plenty of room for running around...and a bunch of nice beaches to run onto and take a break.

Hey Wes nice Jet:)

Hey can you post some pics of your bow-mounted pedestal seat? I'm curious how you tackled that and how it has been working out for you.

I've been contemplating that since my buddy has a 1960s Cadillac tinny that he might do the same to and if I get a closed-bow Starcraft I would consider it as well.

Thanks and good job on the resto project.

Thanks for the kind words. I'll take a few new pictures of the forward seat setup for you. Attached is a pic that will show the base plate attached to the lower deck under the bow, and another that kinda shows the fitting on the bow cap.

Basically a large brass pipe slides over a SS fitting that is secured "under" a piece of ply. The hole in the bow cap has a fitting that allows the pipe to slide in snug & secure without damaging the bow. Additionally, extra support was put in under the bow cap to support people walking on it. My son is the one who uses it when we are fishing. The nice part is I can take the seat off and on very easy and it doesn't pose a problem when we're just running around the lake at WOT.

If you take the snap ring off from the back of it and then take something like a deep scoket you can hit it with a hammer to drive the center shaft out.
