Re: New to iBoats with my 71 Glasstron

Cost to date: $805.14

Yesterday got out and did a bit more fiberglassing, finished one of the short stringers and the rest of what i could on one of the center stringers. (i need to cut a new peice of wood and then add the braces. (need more fillet for setting).

The fiberglassing is going quick and easy after the first little bit. All that is glassed right now is 4 layers. After I finish all of it, I am going to do one final layer on each stringer. I am out of resin and filler so its going to be until the middle of August before I get truckin again. (that fence still needs to be rebuilt, but I have a lot of work to do in the mean time.)

Re: New to iBoats with my 71 Glasstron

All:

I know its been quite some time since I have updated - So here we go!

The boat has been completely restored ( i will post some additional before pics later). All work was completed by myself with some muscle help from my brother in-law. The only Item I had to pay labor for was a rebuild of the motor. There was a leaky seal, so I decided to have the entire motor rebuilt and have all rubber replaced. Runs like a champ! Will go 35 mph (gps speed) with only me on it. The wierd thing is when i turn sharp its like the prop isnt in the water (so im just taking wide turns for now, open to suggestions!).

To recap, I purchased the boat/trailer combo for $200.00 with a starting motor and good compression on all cylinders. (In the end i paid for a Hull and a motor and a fun project!)

Here is what is new (replaced or added):
Replaced:
- Stringers
- Transom
- Brass drain plug (screw in)
- Brass splash well tube
- Aluminum 90 degree cap to transom.
- Rebuilt controls
- Deck
- Rub Rail
- All electronics (fuze box, lights, bilge pump, horn, depth/fish finder w/ GPS speed and maps)
- Starter and Harness (for motor)
- Windshield (driver only)
- Steering (changed from pulley to rotary)
- Upholstery (custom Gray/white stripe, new vinyl on side storage boards)
- Driver seat (was a free b, its blue :( )
- Front seat ( cushion for 2 on the bow)
- Paint (cap and center console)
- Carpet (generic carpet, thin, fast trying)
- All stainless screws/nuts/bolts throughout.
- 4 Stainless hand rails (they are actually bars for showers lol)
- Bimini top.
- Wheels, tires, and bearings
- Trailer lights

Total cost is about 3,000 and a great little delta boat!

Here is the finished product! Thanks for looking!
