Re: New to me boat-1965 650E 65hp Need some help
Mark,
I know the manual is a chunk of change but it will save you some headaches in the future.
The KA carbs are easy to rebuild and if you had a sticking float you may want to consider doing so. the kit is avaiable on iboats.com, oldmercs.com or marineengines.com. A HarborFreight Ultrasonic cleaner and Pine-Sol is a great way to get the crud out of the carbs during the rebuild.
You can find a free manual here but buying the original is by far the way to go. Boatinfo - The library, containing manuals, brochures and other technical documents from the last hundred years!
Also, here is a link to what I,m doing with my 1963 Merc. http://forums.iboats.com/mercury-mariner-outboards/1963-mercury-500-50hp-502802.html
