Hi!. I just came into possession of an older model # 40872C. This has the "selectric" shifting. I'm guessing that the reason the numbers don't match my seloc manual numbers is that the C means it is a Canadian version??? Also, the pushbutton shifting according to the manual should have the green wire energized for 'reverse' and BOTH wires energized for neutral. On mine, I have one energized when forward is depressed and the other one energized when reverse is depressed, and no juice when the neutral is depressed. Could there be a completely different operation on this model... hardly seems likely, as in the style listed in the manual, the operator can at least go forward without power to the shifting unit.

My 1970 40 hp manual says green energized for forward blue energized for reverse. They dont make it clear what happens when putting it into
neutral. It is called electromatic shift and was apparently used from 62 to 70.They stress a good
well charged battery.
