Hey all,

I just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to the site. I've been on here reading and researching for a bit, so I finally registered. This will be my first post. Seems like there is a lot of valuable information here, and some great projects as well! Let me start by telling you a bit about myself.

I'm a 31 y/o Finance major at CSULB (I know, I'm old to be doing an undergrad...I took a few years off and went back to school), I graduate in May and I'm looking into MBA programs at the moment. I'm an avid dirtbike enthusiast, and enjoy watersports whenever possible. Last year a good friend of mine and I did a 50/50 split ownership on a Yamaha Waverunner (GP800R), this year we decided to step it up, and buy our first boat. So here is what we bought!!

1996 Bluewater Eagle, 4.3L Mercruiser I/O, 179 hours. Pretty standard issue, used vessel. Got it at a great price ($3100), but it needed some minor interior, stereo, and trailer work. Plus a small number of odds and ends (like an oar, what boat doesnt have an oar?? lol). Since the purchase right before Christmas, we have gotten the worn upholstery pieces re-finished, new trailer wheels and tires, a prop, and misc other items. Check out the pics and let me know what you think for our first boat. Thanks in advance for any questions, comments, etc.

I had the three bow cushions, the two rear jump seats, two complete engine cover pieces, and drivers bottom insert reupholstered for under $400. The next step is to update the trailer...new bunks, lighting, and a little bit of welding on the rear, as it had been dragged at some time by being bumper-pulled behind a Suburban. Thanks again!

Ahhh, yes, another sucker ready to throw thousands of dollars into the preverbial hole in the water we call our boats! ;):D

Nice ride, and welcome to the boating community, MRCLEAN. Lots of good advice here, so join right in, the water is fine!

Good looking boat...a step up in class from the unruly ride of that waverunner water-bronco you have. Welcome to the site. There is more than just boat talk, and plenty of free advice.

Feel free to offer up your own comments. As a future MBA, it must be the sportsman in you that decided to jump into the financially-draining boating lifestyle...

Welcome aboard.:)

Thank you to you all. Yes, I understand it will be financially draining. But then again, I'm only spending 50 cent dollars, as its a 50/50 ownership. I am not new to having toys that require $$ and maintenance, so this should be nothing new really. Expect the unexpected right? :D

Welcome MRCLEAN. You have done a great job restoring your boat, it looks alot like my 19' Crownline bowrider. Had it for 1 season and it beat us up so badly on the lake that we traded it in on a 25' Crest pontoon with an E-Tec Evinrude 150 HP motor, wont be as fast as the 4.3L Merc Cruiser but the ride will be better. Have fun this summer with your nice looking boat, and be safe.

Yes! Welcome MRCLEAN!

Great looking boat and it looks like they did a perfect job on the interior.
400 bucks was a heck of a deal!

Now is time to read up on all the service requirements.
Go to the Adults Only thread and you can download a free factory service manual...;)
