I live near the chesapeake and love to fish for croaker, spot, rockfish, etc... I started to use fishbites this year and I will never go back to buying bloodworms for $10/dozen. both bloodworm and crab fishbites work great, stay on the hook, don't die, and catch more fish than the real thing. Not to mention the fact that Maine bloodworms are over harvested. There are several brands and they all work great. Despite the better results, I think Croakers and spot were not as plentifull as last year in the bay, but small rocks are still moving the baitfish. Many old charter captains have told me that rockfish are becoming more and more unpredictable in the bay every year. This year, the shallows are hot but all over the place.

When I went to Va. Beach in September I was shocked to see the price of bloodworms. I was equally shocked to see the new "artificial" bloodworm. The darned stuff seemed to work well.

I agree!! :D :D Fish-Bites are the best thing since High cut string BIKINI'S! worn in the winter(grin)...But the chicken breast bait I think would just catch a whole bunch of crabs in the bay! haven't had a lot of luck with the crab flaver bait though in the cheasapeake

Fished both the Fish-Bites and real Bloods side by side from surf and in boat over a dozen times. Can't remeber a single time Fish-bites out fished the real thing.

In New England, I like to troll tube and worm rigs for stripers. The prescribed worm is locally referred to as a sand worm or sometimes sea worm or a clam worm. Is a blood worm the same critter?

Here is a pic of an artifical sandworm from mister twister...

The berkeley gulp bloodworms and sandworms work awesome, and as said are cheaper and last longer than the real thing. I recommend them.

The berkley gulp worms do work on a tube and rig, but they can't take a hit. With a real worm, the fish seem to hit it and then come back for more if they missed and only got a piece of the worm. The real worms break easily and usually a piece remains on the hook for the next hit. The berkley worms can usually only take one hit. You either hook the fish or have lost the worm.

That is why I wondering if these fishbite things are worth trying given they appear to be pretty tough.
