I have never named a boat but my girls named the one we are in now(watch the vid) for some reason they did not think it would float(after watching me rebuild her)

Holy moly, that explains so much. New skipper here and I hav had more than my share of bd luck. From my first outing when I launched without taking along the boat key, to parking it at the marina without the plug in, to damaging two props, I thought it was more than just bad luck.

Got the boat in April and been out under 10 times this season. I have also ripped off the deck cover/hinge (moving it to the audio shop), tweaked the winch loading it on the trailer and had enough bumps and bruises to make me jumpy.

Im namin her before next launch.

OK...Ya got me convinced. Now...How do I think of a name for her??? I have yet to put her in the water and I've had her for 3 months now.

I'm tryin' to make sure she's ready for it. SHe sat for 5-7 yrs. without being winterized or anything. I'm planning on her water trials just AFTER the 4th of July.

Come to think of it: My little 10 foot tunnel hull with a 50 horse engine (in the avatar) has no name and I flipped her three times, once last season and twice this season. I had better get a name on her FAST, And pray to Neptune with a LOT of liquid offerings. Aren't you also required to burn a pair of socks that have been worn a month straight, and dance naked around the flames, while suitably lubricated?

What if you have a name for your boat but it's not really repeatable in polite company? My son named our boat the "brown turd", I can say for a fact that that's not ever going on the transom, and most certainly never telling it to anyone who's not a real close friend.

Also, will a boat bring about bad luck when it know's it's getting replaced? Just wondering, because I'm starting restoration on my "new" boat this weekend and the "brown turd" is going on craigslist in the spring (again, the name will most likely be omitted from the craigslist ad).
