Re: No Power AGAIN

It could possibly need cleaning, just because you just did it doesn't mean that something couldn't have gotten pulled up into it. Are you sure that your primer is working? Actually is it a primer or a choke on that 85? If you didn't set the float quite right or it's possibly sticking on something, it could be causing the carb to run too rich and could be flooding a little, then when you hit the primer or choke it's not gonna solve it because it's already too rich of a mixture. Is there any reason for the guy to be lying to you, have you used him before?

No ..I didn't mean to suggest he was lying. I mearly suggested he may be wrong in his diagnosis.
Actually he was uncertain of his diagnosis. I guess I'll pull the boat and tear down the carbs again and see what I got. Thanks to all for all your patience.

Re: No Power AGAIN

Well I just now got around to pulling the boat (busy trying to get my other boat running).
I started to take the carbs off for rebuilding as recommended and low and behold I notice the linkage rod connecting the two carbs was disconnected rendering the bottom carb useless on throttle up. Chalk this up to experience but I couldn't use the boat for a month !!!!!

Re: No Power AGAIN

Glad you found it. Sometimes we are just too close to the problem and have to walk away for a while.
