Hi I am have some issue on figuring out why I have no power to my tilt and trim relays. I have a 1996 Johnson 150.

check for any fuses ...? all connections secured, shiny.
The only fuse is the 40amp. Everything looks good as far as connections go I’ve even pulled back the housing on the wiring to where all three Buttons come together being the one at the throttle the one on the motor and the one by trolling motor and no power I have a red green and blue wire and I’ve checked all three while pushing buttons at all three places and nothing and the battery is good. I also failed to mention the boat has set for 6 years. I’m sure I’m missing something some where just not sure.

My understanding is the tilt and trim has constant power meaning I don’t have to have the key switch turn on right? And am I wrong in saying the power comes from the starter solenoid if so can a bad solenoid be the problem I’m also have the stater off. In the process of changing it out. Being the reason it set for so long and just decided to try and get the old girl going again as a project.

normally +12 is taken of the selenoid

+12 from the "battery side" post and then FUSED before distribution

depending on the T&T model it may have 2 wires to the motor or 3 wires which either directly feed the motor and use a common ground wire ...or with 2 wires the polarity is simply reversed by the T&T relay cct.

start by following the wire to the fuse and ascertain +12v is leaving the fuse for distribution to the t&T relay assembly

you may eventually have to directly feed +12 and GRD to the T&T motor wires to test he motor because it could be locked up

What model motor? 60*V6 or 90*V6?

So no power at the trim button on the cowling? On my '98 Johnny 60*V6, the power for the instruments, trim, starting etc., come from the same 20A fuse on the wire at the starter solenoid. If that fuse blows, no instruments work, the trim doesn't work and the motor will not crank.

You need to trace power back to the fuse from the trim buttons on the engine. Remember if the motor has relays, they need a good ground on both the relay primary and secondary windings.

It’s a 90 v6

You have power at the fuse?
Let’s go upstream…you have power at the terminal by the starter?

Do you have a power strip at the relays or not?
So I have power at the relays now. And I check the tilt and trim motor and they work. But like I said earlier in the post that I am in the middle of changing out my starter and I don’t have the - wires that ground to the block attached would that keep the tilt and trim switch from working?

And the above picture is the only fuse I am finding on the motor I’m not finding one by the relay box.

Yes.
Trim and tilt power source of power comes from the starter circuit

Ok so if the relays are not clicking then there bad right is it common for both to go out? And like I said it’s been sitting for six years

Relays supply ground to the PTT motor when they are not energized. They supply +12VDC to the PTT motor when energized. So you must have a good ground on the relay's primary and secondary circuits for it to function properly.

So, If you jumper the blue wire on the PTT motor with +12VDC and it spins, the ground on the green wire is working, and vice versa. So if the PTT motor spins both ways, when you jumper it, the grounds are good. That leaves the relays or the relay primary circuit as the likely culprits.
