Ok, I took the old girl out for a test run this morning. Started right up, no problems there. got out on the water and ran her up slowly. nothing I could do would get past 2100 RPM. strong fuel odor, plugs are wet.

the carb was just replaced. float is set to correct spec's. I am wondering about the primary jets. They are spring loaded in the up (open) position and I was told that they are controlled by a cam. I have worked on enough carbs to know that there is no cam internal to the carb.

Anyway, any suggestions?

Mercruiser 250 (5.7L)
carb is a Quad-jet
