Hello again...have 87 3.0litre with an Alpha1 drive...I replaced empeller/pump and now have oil seeping out bottom of drives "weep hole"..where water usually flows out...What seals are bad/not installed properly to cause this?...Also, Can I perform a "pressure test" myself to determine where leak is after I pull bottom leg of drive back off..And lastly, before this happened I ran on muffs and even before I cranked my engine water was flowing out "weep hole" with water on muffs...Is this normal?..(I guess this boat will never see water this summer)...Thanks,Pete

Water from the pee hole is normal.....
It's purpose is to allow the exhaust cavity to drain so that trapped water does not freeze in there....
My guess is that you either did not install the pump base gasket or the two oil seals correctly.....
Sure you can pressure test it......;)

Don't give up hope! I haven't...yet:D

Just to be clear, is he looking at one of three possible culprits? pump base gasket - drive shaft seal - shift shaft seal? I'm in the same predicament. I'm judging by his description that his problem is probably just going to be the pump base gasket, since he just changed the impeller. Correct?

He won't know till he tests it.....
I'm gonna go with improperly installed oil seals on the water pump housing (drive shaft).....;)

Drop the lower gear housing again and you will find the o-ring at the top of the driveshaft got bound up into the upper gear housing oil seal. This is very common.
