The reason I ask is that I picked up a motor for a wood hull I am refurbing, a '79 E'rude 100hp. The p/h had a crack in the water jacket below hole #4. Upon pulling heads I found 2 pieces of rubber hose, maybe 1/4"-5/16" od and 1.5"-2"long stuffed in the water jackets of the block under the head. They looked like they lhad been siliconed in place at one time, but then so had the split in the water jacket. I assumed they were part of an elaborate system to fix the leak without pulling the p/h. Boring story short...are those the deflectors? And if so should I replace them. I ran the motor in tank for an hour last fall and seemed ok.
